#Thatblackgirltravels to RUSSIA: DAY 1 Nosovo Village

Soooo I did it!!!! I have been planning this trip to Russia for over 3 years!!! I happened to need to be here for work but have turned what could have been a 2-3 day work trip to an 8 day solo(-ish)extravaganza!

I promised to share daily so watch out for some spam. I used @british_airways and I was running late as stuck in security due to no fault of my own but the plane waited till I got to the gate as the lovely lady at the desk radioed SOMEONE to tell them I was on my way. I was literally the last to board, no lie. The flight was just under 4 hours from Heathrow and we were on time. Moscow is 2 hours ahead of London. Fyi, I am travelling on my Nigerian passport and I got a Russian visa for the trip... I was going to write about the hotel but will wait till I check out tomorrow morning (I am only here for 1 day before moving on to my other hotel). I might be a bit too mean right now with my review.

The garden is nice though.

Getting through custom and immigration at the airport was actually SUPER EASY. I was pleasantly surprised by how simple it was. I was checked and out of the queue in about 5 mins.

My problems only started when I realised I didn't take £££'s in cash so had to use an ATM. It was in Russian sooooo didn't go so well but I figured out how to change the lang by asking a fellow passenger. I use @starlingbank abroad so have no ATM fees.

I was soon accosted by an 'official airport taxi officer ' who said I could pay for my taxi by card. Then he quoted 6000 rubles (£75)for a 9 min trip from SVO airport to Nosovo village. 😫🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Thankfully I had done my homework so haggled and got it down to 750 (£10)rubles. Which was STILL a lot but I didn't have wifi to use Yandex taxi (the Russian Uber) yet.

Finally, got to the hotel and shortly went back to the airport to get some food as my hotel had no restaurant ??????????? I used Yandex this time and it was 300 rubles! The return leg was 400 rubles. (About £5 each way)

The main issue is communication as I don't speak Russian (yet)!!! This led to lots walking round in circles looking for the cab was parked waiting. Like for at least 20 mins! However if you are happy to just jump in a cab and pay full price, the Cab to people ratio =100 to 1!
